Leather Care Guide

A little care helps keep your leather looking its best. Follow any instructions supplied with your product, and check which treatments suit its finish before cleaning.

Daily Care

  • • Wipe your leather with a soft, dry cloth after each use to remove dust and surface dirt.
  • • Avoid placing your leather goods on rough or abrasive surfaces.
  • • Keep leather away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent drying and fading.

Cleaning

  • • For light marks, start with a soft, dry cloth. Check the care instructions before using water, especially on suede or unfinished leather.
  • • For deeper cleaning, choose a cleaner suitable for the specific finish. Test it on a hidden area and follow the instructions before treating a visible surface.
  • • Never use household cleaners, alcohol, or solvents on leather.

Conditioning

  • • Use conditioner only if it is suitable for your product’s finish. Suede and nubuck need different care from smooth leather.
  • • Follow the conditioner’s instructions for application and drying time. Test a small, hidden area first, as treatment can change the colour.
  • • Suitable conditioning can help smooth leather stay supple. If you are unsure about a treatment, ask us before applying it.

Storage

  • • Store your leather goods in a clean, breathable dust bag when not in use.
  • • Lightly fill bags with clean, unprinted tissue paper to help maintain their shape. Avoid overfilling bags or wallets.
  • • Store in a cool, dry place with good air circulation. Avoid plastic bags, which trap moisture.

Handling Water Damage

  • • If your leather gets wet, blot the excess moisture immediately with a soft, absorbent cloth. Do not rub.
  • • Allow the leather to air dry at room temperature. Never use a hair dryer, radiator, or direct heat.
  • • Once dry, check for marks or changes in texture. Ask for care advice before applying a treatment.

Surface Marks

  • • Light marks may soften with use, depending on the finish. Avoid vigorous rubbing or scraping the surface.
  • • For deeper scratches, ask for advice before using a repair cream or conditioner. The wrong treatment can alter the finish.
  • • Remember: light marks and patina are part of the beauty of natural leather. They tell the story of your piece.
